Crystal Healing and Energy Work - Debbie Williams

Crystal healing is an energy-based system. This means it is based on the belief that we are all made up of different energies and that when this becomes stagnant, unbalanced or blocked, it can cause illness. Crystals help unblock, balance and direct energy where it is most needed, gently supporting the body to heal in a therapeutic way.

Different types of crystals are thought to have different properties and energies. Just holding and being near these crystals is therefore thought to affect our own energies on a physical, spiritual and emotional level.

Crystal healers have extensive knowledge of the different stones and how they affect us, and are able to use them in healing sessions. There are several different ways this can be done, but the most common is to have the client lie down and place the crystals on or around them in a specific way.

The types of crystals used and the positioning of them will depend on what the client is seeking support for. This could range from a physical concern such as headaches or stress, to more emotional or spiritual concerns.

Cupping - Claire Ridout

Cupping is a technique used to stimulate acupuncture points or larger areas of the body as it helps the blood and Qi flow more easily in areas of stagnation. The cups are rounded and made of glass. Using a flame, a vacuum is created inside the cup and then quickly placed onto the skin where treatment is needed. Several cups can be used and they may be left in place from a few minutes up to 10 minutes.

Slide cupping is another method and involves using massage oil and moving the cups over the affected areas of the body. Cupping isn't painful and can be described as the feeling of having a deep massage. It can leave reddish/purple circles on the body which can appear as a bruise, but no trauma has been inflicted on the muscles.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) - Fiona Grant

Emotional Freedom Techniques, or EFT (often known as Tapping or EFT Tapping), is a universal healing tool that can provide impressive results for physical, emotional, and performance issues. EFT operates on the premise that no matter what part of your life needs improvement, there are unresolved emotional issues in the way. Even for physical issues, chronic pain, or diagnosed conditions, it is common knowledge that any kind of emotional stress can impede the natural healing potential of the human body.

In many cases, EFT can be applied directly to physical symptoms for relief without exploring any emotional contributors. However, for the most powerful, longest lasting results with EFT, we do expect to identify and target related emotional issues.

The EFT premise also includes the understanding that the more unresolved emotional issues you can clear, the more peace and emotional freedom you will have in your life. limiting beliefs can vanish, personal performance can soar, relationships can thrive, and vibrant physical health can be yours.

Indian Head Massage - Tiffany Brine - Karen Cropley

This ancient massage technique also known as Champissage, covers the neck, shoulders & upper back as well as the head. The neck and shoulders are first deeply kneaded and squeezed to remove any muscle tension. Once completed the therapist will move on to the head and scalp.

With the wrists resting on the head and using their fingertips they will lightly rub the scalp, as if shampooing the hair. This will increase circulation thus improving blood supply to the brain. Before the final step the therapist will perform a facial massage, gently rubbing the temples in a small circular motion.

Once finished they will gently rub the forehead, moving away from the centre down each side of the face to the temples before finally stroking slowly from the forehead towards the back of the head, becoming lighter as they move until the fingers lift away completely from the head. This is a wonderful relaxing treatment that will remove tension from the shoulders and neck, release sinus pressure and relieve stress that can ultimately lead to headaches.

Iridology - Claire Ridout

The system of Iridology, an art and a science, is the analysis of the iris of the eye. It is used as a diagnostic tool to show the constitution of an individual. It can show underlying weakness and strength, genetic predispositions (which may or may not be triggered in a lifetime) and a general state of health. Its purpose is to help understand our health in a holistic way.

By identifying signs and markings in the iris, an Iridology reading can help to show areas of health which need attention and extra care.

As the practice of Iridology is an assessment of an individual’s health, it is the perfect complement to other natural healing methods such as; Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Herbal Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Nutrition. All of which are aimed at restoring the strength and vitality of the organs and tissues of the body.

Iridology is a holistic practice and it looks at finding the root of a problem and working to find a solution instead of just masking a complaint. If we are more aware of the state of our health, we will become empowered to take control of our lives.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage - Sally Terry

This stimulates the lymphatic vessels which carry substances vital to the defence of the body and removes waste products.

The first visit will include a consultation during which the therapist will recommend the number and frequency of future sessions. Each session will last approximately one hour. Where appropriate the therapist will work in conjunction with your medical practitioner.

What are the benefits?

•Helps "detox" the body.

•Relieves fluid congestion: swollen ankles, tired puffy eyes and swollen legs due to pregnancy.

•Is an effective component of the treatment and control of lymphoedema (which may occur after cancer treatment) and assists in conditions arising from venous insufficiency.

•Promotes healing of wounds and burns and improves the appearance of old scars.

•Minimises or reduces stretch marks.

•Can be used to speed healing after cosmetic surgery.

It is now gained acceptance worldwide as a component in the treatment and control of lymphoedema.

Massage - Karen Cropley - Tiffany Brine

Massage therapy is recognized as one of the oldest methods of healing, with references in medical texts nearly 4,000 years old. In fact, Hippocrates, known as the "father of medicine," referenced massage when he wrote, in the 4th century B.C.: "The physician must be acquainted with many things, and assuredly with rubbing."

Nowadays, in addition to "rubbing," massage therapy refers to the application of various techniques to the muscular structure and soft tissues of the body that include applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, vibration, rocking, friction, kneading and compression using primarily the hands, although some massage therapists do use other areas of the body, such as the forearms, elbows or feet. All of the techniques are used for the benefit of the musculoskeletal, circulatory-lymphatic, nervous, and other systems of the body. In fact, massage therapy positively influences the overall health and well-being of the client.

There are dozens of types of massage therapy methods & people seek massage therapy for a variety of reasons to reduce stress and anxiety, relax muscles, rehabilitate injuries, reduce pain, and promote overall health and wellness.

Naturopathy - Claire Ridout

Naturopathy is underpinned by the fundamental principle of the healing power of nature and these principles include:

•prevention is preferable to cure

•the root, or cause of an illness is to be treated

•the whole person is to be treated

•health should be abundant vitality

•the person is treated, not the disease

The Naturopath is to be a teacher and empower the patient to take responsibility for his/her own health.

Therapeutic methods used by Naturopaths include; Tissue Salts, Bach Flowers, Herbs, Homeopathy, Nutrition, Iridology and life style advice.

Naturopathy for Children:

Children are fascinating, for so many reasons, but especially when it comes to their health. They are physically designed to fight off germs and illness so effectively, and with this in mind, it is important to support their health during these times rather than use medicines that may suppress their body's natural abilities to heal.

Naturopathic treatments for children can include, but are not limited to; anxiety, skin conditions (eczema, psoriasis etc), nervous tics, behavioural issues, coughs/colds, throat complaints and support with their immune system.

By using various holistic methods, a child can be nursed back to health in ways that doesn't compromise the immune system and can strengthen the body against future illness and infection.

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) - Ian Cue - Brigitte Scott Florek - Natasha Carlton Dewhirst

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a technique which helps understand the way people function. The technique helps to understand the connection between the way an individual thinks and the verbal and nonverbal patterns of communication they use to express themselves.

NLP helps people to change their behaviours, effecting new states of mind which can help improve wellbeing. NLP practitioners use NLP techniques to improve skills in:

• Management and sales

• Communication

• Increased motivation

• Interpersonal skills

• Personal development

NLP practitioners believe that when you change how you think, you’re able to effect change in the way you think and build a more positive outlook for your life.

Nutritional Therapy - Susan Davis

Nutritional Therapy is based on the scientific principle that food, as nature intended, provides the nutrients needed to heal the body and to help bring us back to a state of optimum health and vitality.

In a consultation, a Nutritional Therapist uses a wide range of tools to identify potential nutritional imbalances and other factors that may be contributing to your symptoms and health concerns. These include a comprehensive questionnaire, food diary, biochemical diagnostic tests and observed physical signs and symptoms. The emphasis is on finding the root cause of your health problem rather than just treating the symptoms.

Recommendations are tailored to your specific needs and may include changes to your diet and lifestyle. If necessary, a supplement programme will be introduced to further enhance your wellbeing. After your initial consultation, follow-up appointments take place 4-6 weeks later to ensure you are progressing well.

Osteopathy - Hannah Stevenson - Ashling Casey-Moore

The main principle of osteopathy is good structural balance and function of your bones, muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons. If these work effectively then the circulatory and nervous system can function efficiently.

Osteopathy looks at the body as a unit and uses the muscles and bones as leverage to aid the body's natural healing mechanisms.

When the word 'OSTEOPATH' is mentioned; people seem to think about bones .... BUT.... unknown to many, Osteopaths do a lot more than just 'treat' your bones.

Osteopaths are often described as treating the individual presentation rather than the condition. As well as addressing the symptoms presented by each patient they also consider the biological, psychological and social factors which may be influencing patients symptoms; instead of viewing symptoms or injuries in isolation.

Osteopathy is based on the principle that the body has the ability to heal itself. Osteopathic care focuses on strengthening the musculoskeletal system and facilitating the self-healing processes. Osteopaths' patient-centred approach to health and well-being means they consider symptoms in the context of the patient's full medical history, as well as their lifestyle and personal circumstances. This holistic approach ensures that all treatment is tailored to the patient as an individual.

Osteopaths work to ensure the best possible care for their patients, aiding their recovery and supporting them to help manage their conditions through a range of approaches, including physical manipulation/massage of the musculoskeletal system to education and advice on exercise, diet and lifestyle.

The next question that tends to follow this is...... WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN OSTEOPATH, PHYSIOTHERAPIST AND CHIROPRACTOR? Take a look at the link below to find out!!

Osteopaths treat more than just backs

Osteopaths treat more than just backs!

Osteopathy can help with all of the above and so much more.... don’t suffer in silence, let us help you!
